The first trucks in the city of Chattanooga’s new fleet of DuraPack Rapid Rails won’t be delivered until December, but the city needs trucks now, so they’ve called on Big Truck Rental. The city is paying $226,000 to rent garbage trucks from Big Truck Rental because, as Public Works administrator Lee Norris said, “I’m not going to let garbage sit on the ground.” The new automated side loaders will be used to pick up residential garbage. In the meantime, the department “requires trucks to replace those that are no longer suitable for use.” Mr. Norris contacted Big Truck Rental because “time was of the essence.”
